Leeds Irish Health and Homes have organisational policies which provide us with a framework within which to work. As a person who uses our services these policies are there to ensure that we provide a duty of care to you and also offer you a service that is of a high quality.

As a person using our services you are always welcome to come to our office, or be visited at home in order to have our policies explained more fully to you.

The policies that you should know about for your benefit are equal opportunities, confidentiality policy, harassment policy and our complaints policy.

Equal Opportunities Policy
Leeds Irish Health and Homes wants to ensure that people are treated equally and respected for their differences. As a person who uses our service you are protected by our equal opportunities policy.

Leeds Irish Health and Homes will not tolerate discrimination on the grounds of race, colour, religious beliefs, gender, age, sexual orientation or disability. We will not tolerate this from one tenant to another or to members of staff at Leeds Irish Health and Homes. Abusive comments or negative behaviour towards a person who uses our services or a member of staff, is not acceptable and will be challenged; if you are a tenant it could place you in breach of your tenancy agreement, or see the offer of support withdrawn from you. This policy exists to protect all people who use our services and their differences.

Confidentiality Policy
Leeds Irish Health and Homes recognises that confidentiality is crucial to
a person’s safety and security.

At Leeds Irish health and Homes we keep relevant written information on the people we provide support to. You have a right to see this information if you want to and we would ask you to tell your Support Worker if this is so.

Any information shared between workers and managers is confidential. Requests for information from a third party will not be granted without written permission from the person using our services.

If we feel that a person is at risk to themselves or to others it may be necessary to pass on information to a third party in the interest of another’s safety.

Harassment Policy
Harassment can take many forms. It is recognised as distinct from other disputes or general ‘nuisance’ when the perpetrators’ actions stem from a prejudice related to a personal characteristic of the victim e.g. race, gender, sexuality and disability including mental or physical health.
Leeds Irish Health and Homes, as an organisation, is here to provide support to the person being harassed and where necessary, or desired, take action against the perpetrator.

If you should ever experience any harassment from another person it is very important to let either your Support Worker know or a manager at Leeds Irish Health and Homes.

We are committed to supporting you through any harassment that may occur. As a tenant you are also protected against harassment by your Tenancy Agreement.

Complaints Policy
Leeds Irish Health and Homes recognises that people who receive our service need to have access to an effective procedure for making complaints.

When you move in to your property you will be given a copy of our complaints procedure. All complaints will be taken seriously and dealt with as quickly as possible, so as to achieve early resolution.

Complaints against the organisation which involve a breach of policy or Tenancy Agreement are very different to inter-personal conflicts.
Inter-personal conflicts should be resolved by a meeting of the people involved. If we are responsible for a breach in our procedures then we would follow the formal procedure to investigate this.

You, as a client, have a right to complain if you feel you have not received the service to which you are entitled. Please do this in writing
or speak to a member of staff about it.

These policy statements are only very short versions of the actual policies. However if you would like to see any of our policies in full with a wider explanation please arrange this with your Support Worker.
