Memories are made of this!
11th November 2009

I was fortunate enough to be selected to go back home to Ireland with Leeds Irish Health & Homes recently. As well as having a much needed break and an enjoyable holiday, I was keen to build up enough courage to finally meet up with my sisters and family once I arrived. I bumped into a couple of friends that recognised me from years ago, they contacted my sisters and they came to see me at the hotel where I was staying.

I lost contact with my sisters over 10 years ago when I last visited Ireland and ever since have missed having the contact with my family. It was fantastic and a great relief to finally meet them again. I spent a couple of days with the family and enjoyed being back at home. I visited a lot of extended family, including nieces and nephews.

I found Ireland to be a very different place since last time I was there, it is very expensive! We stayed at The Welcome Inn, Castlebar which was a lovely hotel. The group I was with were a great bunch of people and we had a great craic! The staff who had accompanied us, John and Chris, were very helpful, friendly and supportive throughout the trip.

Being able to attend the Ireland Trip this year has enabled me to gain the confidence to go back and stay with my sisters, I am hoping to achieve this next year now that we are keeping in touch.

It is thanks to Leeds Irish Health & Homes who made it all possible, not only have I gained back my confidence but more importantly reunited with my family again.
