This residence for 6 single Irish people over-55, opened in 1993 and aims to offer an alternative to isolation and loneliness.

How can I be referred to Davitt House?
You can be referred by a professional, a family member or you can refer yourself. You will need to call LIHH and speak to one of our Housing Team. We will then make an appointment to visit you to discuss your needs.

The appointment will be an informal chat about your current situation and the level of support that you require. This meeting provides an opportunity for you to ask us any questions and for us to look at whether this is the most appropriate accommodation for you.

What type of accommodation does Davitt House provide?
Davitt House provides 6 flats within a residential setting; it is classed as supported housing. Most of the flats are en-suite and there is a lift to the second floor. It does not cater for emergency accommodation and is for longer-term residents. The accommodation is for male and female residents. Support is provided on a daily basis to tenants.

How much rent do I have to pay?
If you receive benefits most, if not all, of your rent will be paid through housing benefit. If you have to contribute to your rent, you will be told before we offer you a place so that you can make an informed choice about whether to accept the accommodation.

What type of support will I receive?
As a tenant you will need the skills to live independently. We provide the support necessary for people to maintain their independence; we do not provide domiciliary care. Davitt House is not a residential care home or an older person’s home. LIHH provides support to all the tenants at Davitt House. This support involves regular visits from a Housing Support Worker who helps with any needs you may have. If you need extra support we can contact other agencies such as home care, district nurses and occupational therapists to assist you.
